New Grower Quality Report

Growers have asked us to provide more data on how their fruit is performing at export and on arrival in market. The Grower Quality Report, a new addition to the reports section of the Industry Portal, can now be accessed via a quicklink on the home page of Canopy.

This Report complements the existing production reports already available in the Industry Portal and presents defect findings from Zespri’s Onshore ECPI quality checks at the wharf or coolstore, as well as the results of checks conducted within 14 days of discharge in the market.


Shed Talk discussions in June emphasised the need for visible fruit quality information, particularly the outcomes of Zespri’s onshore ECPI and in-market inspections. A collaborative industry working group developed the new Grower Quality Report in response. The Report is presented as four sections with a number of pages within each section.

Moving forward, Zespri is looking to expand its data reporting tools to improve quality-related reports for employees, growers, and the entire industry.

Accessing the Grower Quality Report

You can access the Industry Portal via a quicklink on the Canopy homepage. To access the Grower Quality Report, simply click on the Report button located on the Industry Portal’s homepage and select Grower Quality Report in the Report dropdown list.

You’ll have access to Industry Portal reports if you have a Canopy login. However, only those authorised will see the Grower Quality Report in the drop down. Viewing an orchard’s data in the Grower Quality Report is restricted to those with orchard data access.

Report highlights

The Report presents pallet check outcomes and defects for your fruit. Easily navigate through the Report using buttons and customise your view by selecting filters for a specific season, fruit group, and grower number.

Evaluate your data against the Industry Average, switchable to a Supply Area average for Zespri Sungold and Green Kiwifruit groups. Data is available for the current season and the three preceding years, for a historical comparison.Gain detail insights into defects levels by hovering over graphs and comparing them to industry averages.

Results are displayed when three or more pallets have been sampled. For some smaller grower numbers, only a few pallets may be inspected, and there may be no inspection data shown, particularly at the start of the season. The industry overview section provides a snapshot of industry check results, especially useful if your fruit has not been selected for an inspection yet. The report will be updated from the start of shipment, receiving weekly updates throughout the season.

Data presentation

The Report consists of four data report sections (Shipped & Checked; Onshore ECPI; In-market; and Industry) and a report information section. Within each section, there are a number of pages with subsets of data presented.
