Working with contractors
Contractors play a vital role on every orchard to help get our product to market; find out about the different types.
The Zespri GLOBALG.A.P. Contractor Programme (Contractor Programme) is certified to the GLOBALG.A.P. standard. The GAP and GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP) certifications show our customers that our kiwifruit has been grown according to the best available methods and social practices.
Contractors registered in the Contractor Programme will have been issued a Compliance Assessment Verification (CAV) which approves them to provide one or more of the following on-orchard activities:
Growers that provide these services outside of their own orchard also need to apply to register in the Contractor Programme.
Please note that the CAV crop scope applies specifically to kiwifruit that is supplied to Zespri.
To apply to register in the Contractor Programme, visit the Zespri industry website and follow the registration prompts.
Upon registration you’ll undergo an initial inspection process with a Zespri-approved inspector. This will cover the applicable GAP and GRASP requirements for the selected business activities. To find out more information about these requirements and the inspection process, visit the Zespri industry website .
When you’ve complied with all the Contractor Programme requirements, you’ll be issued a CAV certificate.
A CAV is valid for 12 months and you’ll need to renew it annually, by completing an inspection.
As a contractor, it is important that you provide your valid CAV to the grower before you start work. Just note, your growers will validate the status of your CAV to ensure it’s current.
