False employment offers using the Zespri name

This is a image description coming from DAM

We've been alerted to a series of fraudulent job offers for seasonal work falsely made in Zespri's name. So far this season, ten cases have been reported by workers seeking to verify an offer of employment.

In these scams, workers are asked to hand over passport details, passport photographs and medical history - and in some cases to pay a "processing fee". These requests are designed to exploit people looking for genuine seasonal work.

How to recognise a scam

A legitimate Zespri recruitment process will never:

  • ask candidates to upload or send their passport details
  • request medical history up front
  • ask for money to process an application

If an offer involves any of these requests, it is not genuine.

How we are responding

Our Industry Compliance team reviews every reported case and refers it to the Labour Inspectorate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), Immigration New Zealand, and New Zealand Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated (NZKGI).

If you've received an offer like this, please report it to us at careers@zespri.com.

We are committed to ensuring Zespri Kiwifruit is grown and distributed responsibly. Globally, we have invested in systems to help identify and respond to worker exploitation, with further work underway. This reflects our commitment under Zespri's Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement.

Help spread the word
